The Evelyn Memorial Gate (that you pass through to enter the camp)

The gate was erected in memory of Boss's brother Evelyn.  The original gateway, being constructed of iron bark, was replaced by the present structure in 1957, after a realignment of the road.

Opened by the then mayor of Geelong Cr. "Les" Backwell, it was built by Geelong Old Scouts in memory of "Boss's" brother, Evelyn Hurst, Group Leader of the 1st Barwon Sea Scouts.  Damaged by the bush fire in 1983 the arch was replaced by the Anglesea Lions Club.  In 1999 the arch was lifted to allow tour busses access to the camp for the 4th Asia Pacific, 11th Australian Venture.
